![]() ![]() I'm also not sure if Steam's verify files / sync options help or hinder, as if Steam 'thinks' it has all the correct files when it doesn't (such as it having too many files or outdated ones), then verifying them won't correct the issue. But I only use Steam when I can't avoid it so I really don't have enough experience or know-how of its working to do any more than guess at the cause. As sometimes these XML are caused by the game having two Core mod files, plus it would make sense why a clean reinstall would fix the issue (although in fairness this does fix a variety of issues). My best guess is that Steam isn't cleaning up after itself properly when updating and that is leaving behind files from the previous version. Is it because something is messed up with the Core "mod" and the Steam verifier doesn't check that folder for some reason? Don't know, just thowing ideas out there. Also, if it was purely a Steam issue, then shouldn't the Verify Files fix it? I know I've had issues before (I can't remember the error I was having) and doing the verify fixed it. I'm not sure if that makes any difference or not. I've been playing for a long time on the same machine, even before the Steam launch. The only thing I can conclude is that I had a couple of different folders in my User\AppData folder. As I said, one day, most likely when my curiosity gets the better of me, I'll pester someone to confess the answer). All those updates and no issues at all? So Steam can update the game without issue, but not when the release is official or some rubbish. And oddly, I can't recall anyone using the unstable test builds reporting XML errors, and yet the unstable build might see a dozen updates. So I don't know what the Steam updater does, but now and again it's doing something it shouldn't. (one day I might pester someone who might know the answer as to what causes these XML errors, since I can't recall someone running the DRM-free version ever getting them, so it seems to be a Steam only thing, and one that only seems to happen during updates. While this was going on, the aforementioned Yokie himself went bezerk and attacked the prisoners. Cool then stumbled out into the open air, where she slowly died from a combination of Bruises, turkey scratches, yorkshire terrier cuts and malnutrition. Unfortunatly, Cool recovered only long enough to eat something and murder her own father beside the bed he had tended her. Rich recovered and brought her to bed after a vicious turkey and prisoner bashing. Cool recovered to subdue him, unfortunately entering another bezerker rage soon afterwards. Rich dutifully carried her to a medical bed, before himself subcomming to a bezerker rage. Eventually Goldblum lay dead on teh floor and Cool was subdued by her father Rich. Enraged at not being able to eat at a table, and the death of a fellow colonist, both Cool and Goldblum attacked eachother in bezerker rages. ![]()
